In the seven-year-old qualifier there was one rider that impressed the most with his horses. Richard Vogel had his two seven-year-old mounts in excellent shape which was emphasized by their results. The German placed first with his special mare Looping Luna by Lord Fountleroy and second with Junior Kannan by Kannan.
Vogel made his debut at the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses with a bang. “I’ve competed here once before in a Z-Tour a few years ago when I was still riding for Ludger Beerbaum. I actually won my first ranking class in Lanaken. So, I was very eager to come here with such good memories”, the winner of the class begins to tell.
Always a pleasure
“I could not have foreseen today would start so well. Especially since I have only ridden Junior Kannan three or four times before competing with him here.” Vogel’s business partner David Will had the ride of the KWPN-chestnut, bred by M. Joppen and R. Dijkhuis, before. “I am happy to have him in my string of horses. He has a fantastic character and is a very simple horse. He just goes on cantering and if you put him in front of a jump he jumps. It is as easy as that. He is always a pleasure to ride.”
The Hannover-mare Vogel placed first with was bred by Andreas Middelkampf out of a Diamant de Semilly mare. Looping Luna (by Lord Fauntleroy) is described by her rider as a very special horse. “I’ve ridden her for over a year, so I know her better than the horse I placed second with. But she does not have so much show experience, but she is very talented. When the owners bought her as a six-year-old she had never jumped a show. Both horses felt very comfortable in the first phase, and I knew I could go faster in the second phase. With lines that were well-suited to the big strides of my horses it was a nice course to jump and without going all-out we finished in great times”, the winner and runner-up concludes.
