The Belgian youth clearly leaves their mark during this last week of the Z-Tour 2022! After the two victories of Aurelia Guisson in the past two days, Elke Appeltans managed to jump into the spotlight today by winning both classes of the CSIU25 competition!
In the 1.40m main class, Appeltans became the winner this afternoon with her 10-year-old mare Alencia Von Hary Z (Action Breaker x Ernest –B: Heinz Mertens), with whom she also won a class two weeks ago during the opening week. In a jump-off for which seven combinations were able to qualify, the duo again remained clear and with a finish time of 35.70 seconds they again outsmarted the competition.
But also the second place in this class was for Belgium and this was ensured by Tristan Guisson, the older brother of Aurelia Guisson. Tristan was in the saddle of the 9-year-old gelding Explosion vh Legita Hof Z (Elvis Ter Putte x For Pleasure – B: Guisson) and managed to set a time of 36.30 seconds in the jump-off. The Dutch rider Niels Kersten completed the podium here in third place. He also stayed clear with the 11-year-old gelding Granito Noorderhoek (Corland VDL x Cash) and this in a time of 37.20 seconds.
Double victory
In addition to this 1.40m class, for the CSIU25 competition there was also a 1.30m class on the program this afternoon and Elke Appeltans managed to ensure a victory in this class as well! In the saddle of the 8-year-old mare Enya Ems van de Padenborre (Etoille M x Edjaz van 't Merelsnest – F: Boyen Nagels) she rushed to the finish in 59.03 seconds in this speed class and and with that performance she again managed to keep the competition behind.
And also in second place we got a Belgian combination thanks to lady rider Jessica D'Errico and the also 8-year-old gelding Nice As Twice V Berkenbroeck Z (Nonstop x Argentinus – B: Herman Van Laer). D'Errico also managed to keep all the poles in the cups and crossed the finish line in 59.24 seconds. Finally, for the Finnish lady rider Aida Hämäläinen, there was a third place in the rankgin, just like yesterday. She managed to set a time of 60.65 seconds with the 12-year-old mare Calisco Z (Calvados Z x Hold Up Premier).
