Last weekend Christian Ahlmann went with various horses to the Netherlands and more specifically to the Equestrian Center de Peelbergen in Kronenberg. On Friday evening he won the 1.45m high Longines Ranking class with Atomic Z (Cumano x Chin Chin).
Of the 84 combinations that appeared at the start, 13 managed to qualify for the jump-off. For this jump-off, course designer Frank Rothenberger and his team had mapped out a curvy course. Those who had mastered the art of short turning could make a short turn after fence number two and thus gain valuable time. Midway through the jump-off, Ahlmann was the first to attempt this maneuver, finishing almost two and a half seconds faster than the others. Also the second place turned blue and yellow thanks to Compelling Z (Chellano Z x Carthago Z) under the saddle of Shane Breen.
A day earlier there were also some successes in the 1.40m class. For example, there was a 3rd place for Michael Duffy with Zilton Sl Z (VDL Zirocco Blue NOP x Indoctro), a 4th place for Marcus Ehning with Cristy Z (Canturo x Landlord) and a 6th place for Chad Fellows with Tachini Z (Toulon x Burggraaf ). Also on Thursday Eric van der Vleuten jumped to a 4th place in the 1.35m class with Sildouch Z (Spartacus TN x Nelson Z) while Laura Kraut won the 1.30m class with Seleste B Z (Spartacus TN x Chardonnay Z).
And also yesterday during the final day there was another victory for the Zangersheide studbook. Niels Kersten became the winner of the CSI1 * GP with Tippy Z (Tyson x Jetset-D). In the 4-man jump-off he was the only one who managed to stay clear once more. Leon Thijssen finished 6th in this Grand Prix after a timefault with Gavoli Z (Twister la Pomme x Calvaro Z). Finally, for Tim Wilks there was a 3rd place earlier in the day with Goldfinger Z (Goldfever I x Pilot) in the 1.35m class.
