The world cup competition in Lyon had a thrilling ending, with 13 out of 40 combinations qualified for the jump-off. At first it looked like Jessica Springsteen (RMF Zecilie) would win her very first world cup, but European champion Martin Fuchs (Clooney 51) improved her time with 0.5 seconds and turned it into a Swiss victory. Pieter Devos and Claire Z (clearway x Coronado) finished just 0.1 seconds slower than the American lady rider and secured a place on the podium. Claire Z, bred by Ralph and Anita Wansart, gained a third place in her first world cup of the season.
Evita SG Z and her Italian rider Emilio Bicocchi were also in the spotlight in Lyon. Their double clear in the five-star Grand Prix put them in fifth place. This 10-year-old mare by Verdi x Codexco was born in Italy at Giovanni Strini.
In the 1.50m classes against the clock, the clear rounds of Robin Muhr with Vino Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Darco) and Max Kühner with Alfa Jordan Z (Air Jordan Z x Lancelot) were good for seventh and nineth pace. For Stephex rider Petronella Andersson and Cassina Z (Casado van 't Gelutt Z x Lux Z) there was also a ninth place in the 1.40m class with two phases.
