After five weeks of Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva in Spain, Jean-Christophe de Grande and Belano vd Wijnhoeve Z collected a lot of classifications. They already became fourth, third and second at 1.45m level, but in the closing GPs they didn’t manage to be clear and placed. Until yesterday! The Grande and the ten-year-old Belano were determined. They made no single mistake and were qualified to participate at the jump-off with 12 participants. In the jump-off they succeeded to put down a second clear round in a fast time of 40.07 seconds, which even Ben Maher didn’t improve.
Belano was bred by D. De Cuyper and is a descendant of Berlin x Darco out of the dam line of Ramona van de Gaver. This is not Belano’s first victory in a 1.50m Grand Prix with three stars. Last year he also took the victory in the CSI3* GP of Moosele and at the age of seven he won the Belgian Champion Cup.
Anthony Philippaerts closed the top three with Quincasco Van't Koningshof Z (Quinar x Cassini II) in the 1.40m Silver Tour CSI1* Grand Prix.
Lorelei vh Waterschoot Z (Lord Z x Parco) finished second with Alexander Housen at 1.40m level. The eight-year-old Iti Wahine Of The Lowlands Z (Indoctro x Goodtimes) won a 1.30m class with her American lady rider Denise Wilson. Cressendo BV Z (Canturano Z x Cassini I) finished fourth at 1.40m level with Kim Kristensen from Denmark. Hendrik Denutte and Nazaro Z (Numero Uno x Calato Z) won a class for seven-year-olds and for Chakilly Z (Chacco-Blue x VDL Cardento) and Jens Christ there was a third place at the six-year-olds.
