Sires of the World: Casanova de l’Herse triumphs in first round with Francois Mathy Jr.

Watched by the many spectators in the Almé Z arena under the setting sun, the stallions gave their first performances in the Sires of the World Class on Thursday. It was Belgian rider Francois Mathy Jr. with SBS stallion Casanova de l’Herse (Ugano Sitte), who finished in the fastest time.

In the course over 1.40m, which was ridden directly on time, the time to beat was set immediately by the first pair in the ring, Ernesto Casenco (MEX) and Cornet Blue PS (Chacco-Blue). The time, 57,10 seconds, did not seem unbeatable, because the eight combination that left the arena, did so in 56,86 seconds. It was Casanova de l’Herse who crossed the finish line as the only clear under 57 seconds with Francois Jr. Mathy (BEL).

Pushing Caseco and Cornet Blue PS to the second place where they remained for the rest of the class. Hot on Ernesto’s heels was Portuguese rider Rodrigo Almeida who steered Imposant van de Renger (Comme Il Faut) to third place in 57,36 seconds.

The top five was completed by Barbara Snieper (SUI) and Quick Fire (Quintero) ranking fourth and Hendrik Sosath (GER) who steered home-bred Casina Grande into the fifth position.
