New Grand Prix victory for Dexter Fontenis Z!

The French rider Simon Delestre and his 9-year-old gelding Dexter Fontenis Z (Diarado x Voltaire – B: Jérôme Hennau) have already delivered a lot of great performances in recent weeks and months. After their victory in the CSI3* GP of Oliva at the beginning of this year, they also won classes in Doha and Madrid, became second in a 1.55m class in Rotterdam and last month they jumped to a fourth place in the LGCT Grand Prix of Monaco. Last weekend followed another top performance for the successful duo, because on Sunday afternoon they became the winners of the CSI4* GP at the Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard!

Delestre and the current number 9 of our Z-ranking immediately started their show in Valkenswaard very well, because during the opening day on Friday they also managed to secure a second place in the 1.50m main class. In a class against the clock they only had to tolerate the fast Italian rider Emanuele Gaudiano (Crack Balou). But Delestre and Dexter Fontenis Z saved the best for the last day. After a clear round in the CSI4* GP, they were one of the nine combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. In that jump-off they showed all their qualities again and with a clear round in 43.16 seconds they were almost one and a half seconds ahead of the competition!

Next to Delestre and Dexter Fontenis Z, the young Swiss rider Bryan Balsiger also managed to reach a top 10 ranking with the 9-year-old chestnut gelding Chelsea Z, a son of Chellano Alpha Z and Cicero Z who was bred in the Netherlands by Willy Sijbers . Balsiger and Chelsea Z saw a pole roll out of the cups in the jump-off and eventually finished sixth.

Also on Sunday the CSI2* GP was on the program and we also got a Zangersheide horse on the podium here. Third place went to the Irish rider Jeremy Sweetnam and the 9-year-old mare Brown Star Z (Big Star Jr K Z x Numero Uno – B: W. de Wit & H. van Kalsbeek), with whom he had already finished seventh in a 1.45m class the day before. In a jump-off for which sixteen combinations were able to qualify, he again managed to ensure a clear round. Furthermore the French rider Guillaume Foutrier finished sixth here with the 9-year-old mare Corneska de la Falize Z (Cornet Obolensky x President – B: Alain & Remy Gilson) while the Italian rider Piergiorgio Bucci became tenth with the 11-year-old mare Naiade d'Elsendam Z (Nabab de Rêve x Quattro B – B: François Verhulst).

But also on Saturday we got a blue/yellow victory in the CSI4* competition and Gudrun Patteet took care of that with her 12-year-old mare Sea Coast Donna Z, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly and Indoctro who was bred by Luc Deknudt. During the 1.45m class, Patteet and Sea Coast Donna Z were one of the sixteen combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off and they beated the competition with a clear round in 33.95 seconds.

In this class there was also a third place for the Dutch rider Jur Vrieling with the 10-year-old stallion Chamertino Z (Chambertin x Orlando – B: Daniel Caers) and a fifth place for the Italian rider Lorenzo de Luca with the 9-year-old mare Promise Z (Gestion Priamus Z x Grannus – B: Jonna Sundblad & CSE AB). During the 1.50m class later in the day, de Luca and Promise Z also managed to secure a sixth place.

Finally, on Friday there was also blue/yellow success during the 1.45m class of the CSI2* competition. Second place went to the Dutch rider Piet Raijmakers Jr. with the 10-year-old mare Van Schijndel's Olaya Z (Ogano Sitte x Concorde – B: F. van Och). Raimakers Jr. and Van Schijndel's Olaya Z were clear in both the first and the second phase and with a time of 26.17 seconds they only had to tolerate the German lady rider Nicola Pohl (Fiona des Hayettes).
