Young Zangersheide horses dominate in Azelhof!

The last international show of the year on Belgian soil was a great success for Studbook Zangersheide last weekend. In Azelhof there were already the good performances during the classes of the CSI2* competition, but also the young Zangersheide horses have performed particularly well at the home base of the Hazebroek family. In no less than five of the nine classes we saw a Zangersheide horse at the top of the rankings!

Five year olds

In the class for five-year-old horses we even got three victories out of three! On the opening day, for example, the victory went to Ugo Berrittella with the gelding Devino van 't Langeveld Z (Dayton Sitte x For Pleasure – B: Bert Thienpond). They finished in the 2nd phase in 30.51 seconds and with that performance they beat Isidoor Van Rompaey, among others, who came second with the stallion Lexus Odth Z (London x Canabis Z – B: NV ODTH).

During the second class on Thursday, we got an integral blue/yellow top five, led by Thierry Goffinet and the gelding New Star By Classic Z (Number One D'Iso Un Prince x Quidam de Rêvel – B: Cassandra Toni). With a clear round in 55.38 seconds they finished 70 hundredths ahead of the competition. Tom Sneppe with Camille van de Lentakker A&T Z (Comme Il Faut x Prince de Revel – B: Luc De Reviere) and Ugo Berrittella with Devino van 't Langeveld Z took the other podium places while Isidoor Van Rompaey with Lexus Odth Z and Dieter Vermeiren with Chouchou JVH Z (Cigaret JVH Z x Wandor van de Mispelaere – F: JV Horses) completed the top five.

The final class on Saturday was won by the Brazilian rider Francisco José Mesquita Musa with the mare Miss Blue Z (Mr. Blue x Carthago Z – B: Hans Schipper). He also led an integral Zangersheide podium with Dieter Vermeiren on Chouchou JVH Z and Nadège Janssen on Alouette du Mury Marais Z (Amoré Mury Marais Z x Crown Z – F: Catherine De Buyl Insurance S.A.).

Seven year olds

For the other two victories we have to go to the classes for the seven-year-old horses. There, the opening class on Wednesday was won by the fast lady rider Charlotte Philippe with the grey gelding Electro van vd Kromsteeg Z (Emerald van 't Ruytershof x Der Senaat 111 – B: Ann Van Putte). She finished in the 2nd phase in 29.04 seconds and with that she finished just half a second ahead of the competition. With Christophe Vanderhasselt and the chestnut mare Diamantina Z (Diamant de Semilly x Narcos II – B: Sabine Daems/Ushuaia Horses NV) we also saw a second Zangersheide horse on the podium. They became third after they also managed to ensure a double clear round.

The last victory was achieved by Kim Keymis with the gelding Dilajo OH Z (Dicasi O.H. x Larimar – B: BVBA O.H.), with whom she has already achieved several great performances in recent weeks. On Thursday, Keymis and Dilajo OH Z were the best in the class for seven-year-old horses and with that they were also at the top of an integral Zangersheide podium. Dieter Vermeiren took second place with Half A Million 111 Z (Herr Senaat 111 x Plot Blue – F: Stud 111) and third place was again for Christophe Vanderhasselt and Diamantina Z.

During the last class on Saturday there was a second place for Andres Vereecke with the mare Coconut van Paemel Z, a daughter of our grey stallion Cicero Z van Paemel and Sandro Z who was bred by Stoeterij Van Paemel BVBA. Arnaud Gaublomme followed in fourth place with the mare Kamille van de Lindenhove Z (Kannan x Edjaz van 't Merelsnest – B: Patrick Verstockt).

Six year olds

Finally, with the six-year-old horses we did not get a Z horse at the top of the ranking, but here the blood of our Zangersheide stallions was strongly present. The opening class was won by the Irish rider Sven Joseph Hadley with the stallion Hsh Harper Du Seigneur, a son of Aganix deu Seigneur Z. With a finish time of 29.32 seconds he finished just under half a second ahead of the competition. Joseph Hadley and Hsh Harper confirmed their form the following days with twice a second place.

The other podium places on Wednesday were colored blue and yellow. Second place went to Kim Thiry on Livorno van het Beetjen Z (Levisto Z x Quadrillo – B: Karel Van De Woestijne) and third place to Sacha de Wit on Ding Dong van Overis Z (Diamant de Semilly x Chellano Z – B : Studfarm Overis). There was also a fifth place for Thomas De Wit with Ice Twin DW Z (I'm Special de Muze x Wandor van de Mispelaere – B: DW Stables).
